We are delighted to officially announce the newly designed logo for the Study in Japan Global Network Project Regional Office in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some of you may have noticed in our social media since the end of last year.
Our project, entrusted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has been operating for years and we have thought it is time to have our own distinctive logo.
Logo design contest was held in Hokkaido University, where the Regional Office in Sub-Saharan Africa is operating. Out of numerous competitors, a logo designed by Ms. MIKAMI Sonoko was chosen.
Her passion for arts & design has illustrated the project concept beautifully. As shown in photo 1, Africa is drawn by a touch of Japanese brush art and sun rising within, resembling the land of the rising sun. Diversity and the beauty of culture and nature of Africa is resembled by the colors. Sakura flower petals placed at Lusaka and Nairobi, where the on-ground operating office is based.
Ms. Mikami has shared with us;
“The concept of the logo was to design so that the youth of Sub-Saharan African region will become fond of study in Japan. I have designed in a way so that the delicate Japanese beauty and diversity of Africa to coexist in one.
This opportunity has given me a chance to become ever more curious to learn the depth of culture and history of countries in Africa. I wish nothing but the best and it is my honour for the logo to play a part in enhancing higher education relationship of Japan and African countries through study in Japan opportunities.”
